Overview
Frozen Food Express (FFE) is a temperature-controlled trucking company headquartered in Lancaster, Texas, founded in 1943. It is the largest asset-based temperature-controlled LTL carrier in the United States. FFE serves shippers in the food and grocery industry, transporting perishable goods including processed foods, meats, dairy, frozen products, confectionery, and bakery items.
FFE's core service is refrigerated LTL shipping with nationwide weekly schedules. The company operates dual-temperature trailers with movable bulkheads that can carry both frozen and cooler freight simultaneously — frozen at sub-zero temperatures and cooler product at around 33°F. FFE also offers dedicated fleet services as a private fleet alternative for shippers with more customized temperature-controlled transportation needs. The company operates service centers across the country in locations including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, Portland, and others, with cold storage warehousing at multiple facilities.
Shippers commonly use FFE for temperature-controlled LTL shipments of food and beverage products to grocery and retail distribution centers nationwide. The carrier is a frequent choice for food manufacturers and distributors that need reliable cold chain transportation with standing appointments at major retail DCs. FFE does not transport hazmat freight.
